My film story is based on Karate Kid which was a major motion picture. In the film clips it was shown that a 12-year-old boy called Dre Parker and his mother Sherry move from Detroit to Beijing after getting a job transfer to car factory. After spending a day at a park, Dre finds young violinist, Meiying, who he likes. She reciprocates his attention, but this 14-year old teen named Cheng, who is a rebellious Kung Fu prodigy whose family is close to Meiying's, attempts to keep them apart by beating Dre up. He later bullies him at school in a fight. During another attack, the maintenance man Mr Han comes to help Dre and reveals himself as a Kung Fu master. Dre is healed by Mr Han and while this is happening Dre asks Mr Han to teach him Kung Fu. He refuses the first time, though later he accepts. Dre has an incident with Meiying which Meijings parents don’t like and keep her away from Dre. After many practice sessions Dre works hard, sometimes Dre feels like giving up but he keeps striving. Mr Han takes Dre too many different places and different activities.
These include:
· Taking Dre to a temple on top of a high staircase and he looked into the bowl at his reflection to teach Dre to keep focused.
· Dre was on the top of a tall building and behind sheets and Mr Han was smacking him with a glove which Dre had to sense then block the attack.
· Dre was hanging over the edge of a creek with elastic tied on his hands and Mr Han’s hands were tied to the other side of a stick, he had to stay focused as well as calm and controlled.
· Dre trained with Mr Han at Mr Hans place with learning many combat skills including learning how to defend and then to strike. He also learned many other Kung Fu techniques.
· Mr Han once got upset and told Dre what had happened with his family and what he had done, Dre helped Mr Han through his sadness which taught Dre not to give up.
· In his own time, Dre practiced push-ups, sit-ups and many other things to keep him fit and ready for the battle.
After all of this training Dre was ready for the big Championship match against-Chen. Many people went to watch including- Mr Han, Sherry (Dre’s mother), Meiying, Cheng’s trainer, Chen’s fellow trainees and many members of the public. The battle started with both of them fighting and striking as well as defending. Then Cheng knocked Dre to the ground and kept striking Dre. The referee had to step in as Cheng was playing dirty and unsportsmanlike tactics. Dre was forced to go down in the rooms where everyone was wanting to give up though Dre didn’t. Mr Han did his special healing technique with fire and soon Dre was back out in the stadium. His leg was tied up. The crowd was getting unsettled and then the referee blew the whistle. Dre did his special backflip kick and defeated Cheng. The crowd cheered for him and Mr Han was so proud as well as Sherry and Meiying.
